Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center
The Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center is located in the Shinan District of Qingdao City, Shandong Province, is adjacent to May Fourth Square. It covers a total land area of 45 hectares and a sea area of approximately 640,000 square meters, with a total construction area of about 140,000 square meters. As the co-host venue of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the sailing competitions of the 29th Olympic Games and the 13th Paralympic Games were successfully held here . Since then, many world-class sailing events have been held here , such as Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, Volvo Ocean Race, Extreme Sailing Series, Sailing World Cup, and City Club Open Regatta(CCOR). It has been highly praised by the International Olympic Committee, World Sailing, the General Administration of Sport of China, and medias from home and aboard as one of the world’s premier sailing bases.
The successive hosting of major national events has significantly enhanced the comprehensive strength and international reputation of the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center. As a window for Qingdao to the world, it has gradually developed into a hub for Qingdao’s fashion culture, a leader in fashion sports, a new highland for fashion exhibitions, and a destination for fashion tourism, becoming a demonstration zone and model for the construction of Qingdao as a fashion city. Today, a comprehensive range of themed products, including marine sports, marine science education and coastal leisure entertainment have been launched by leveraging the high-quality tourism resources of the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Marine Culture and Tourism Zone, which ,has transformed the scenic area into an international marine culture and tourism destination that integrates sailing sports, seaside leisure, cultural experience, marine study and research, and exhibition tourism. Meanwhile, as a landmark of the reception hall of Qingdao, the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center has evolved into a comprehensive functional scenic area that integrates culture, sports, exhibitions and tourism.
